There are melodies that stay with us long after a film ends.

 

The music of Studio Ghibli has become part of people’s lives all over the world — carried in memory, shared across generations, and loved for the comfort, wonder, and feeling it brings. This one-night-only concert invites audiences to experience those beloved melodies in a completely new way: through live piano, bilingual vocals in Japanese and English, and the joyful rhythm of American tap dance.

 

At the heart of this performance is something deeply New York.

 

This concert begins with Japanese music and draws from American performance traditions, but it is more than simply presenting one culture beside another. It reflects what New York City does so beautifully: bringing different histories, influences, and artistic languages into the same room, where they come together to create something entirely new. In that sense, this evening is not only about Ghibli’s music, but also a celebration of cultural exchange, artistic collaboration, and the kind of creativity that can only happen in a city like this.

 

The result is a performance that feels both familiar and unexpected. These are melodies many audience members already carry with them, now experienced through a new artistic lens — playful, heartfelt, and alive.

 

Whether you grew up with My Neighbor Totoro, discovered Spirited Away later in life, or simply enjoy beautiful live music and dance, this concert is designed to bring people together. Families, anime fans, music lovers, theater audiences, and curious New Yorkers will share a space filled with nostalgia, imagination, laughter, and discovery.

More than anything, this evening is an invitation to gather together and experience these melodies live in the same room and in the same moment, where every note, every step, and every moment becomes part of the story.

We have worked to keep ticket prices affordable and to reserve a limited number of complimentary community tickets because we believe this celebration of music, culture, and connection should be open to as many people as possible.
